Private Lessons
Private
lessons are available at all stages of musical development from beginning
through advanced for string, woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, and guitar
students.
Beginning level students generally enroll for one 30 minute lesson per week with
teachers making recommendations for longer instruction time (45 or 60 minutes)
to more advanced or faster moving pupils.
It is not possible to makeup or reschedule missed lessons.
Please notify the PLACe and/or your teacher if a student will be unable to
attend their scheduled lesson. Whenever possible, 24-hour notice is appreciated.
Private lesson students are strongly encouraged to perform on
one PLACe recital per
year. It is customary to stipend the piano accompanist or other professional
musicians who assist students during recitals. These fees are paid to the
accompanist (not the PLACe) and typically range from $15-50 depending on the
number of rehearsals and difficulty of the music.
Students are generally required to purchase method books,
solo material, and other musical supplies (metronomes, music stands, reeds,
strings, etc.). These are not included in the tuition costs but for your
convenience are available at the PLACe store.
Private Lessons with a Student Instructor
The PLACe has a LIMITED number of student teachers who have shown
exceptional abilities on their chosen instrument and the maturity to work with
beginning and elementary level musicians. This is an invaluable opportunity for
the instructor, and an affordable alternative for many families. Because of the
limited number of student instructors, not every instrument is available for
student lessons. Check Faculty List
